Skilled communicators navigating the new media landscape
Co-founder and managing partner, public relations
Delmar is a news nerd with roughly 15 years’ experience in print, radio, television and digital media. He has strong opinions and doesn’t shy away from controversy, as long as it’s constructive, measured and doesn’t disappoint his mother. He is a contributor with The National Post (and its Full Comment blog), as well as a talk-show host and political commentator with Montreal’s CJAD 800 (and occasionally with other Bell Media outlets like Newstalk 1010 Toronto and CTV News Channel). Before breaking political news, including Quebec’s “Pastagate,” Delmar studied journalism, cinema and marketing, beginning his career with Montreal’s The Suburban. He was later named managing editor of bilingual commentary journal The Métropolitain. He enjoys Polish vodka, pretentious cuisine and trolling cabinet ministers on Twitter.
Chief of operations and managing partner, content
Principled and strong-willed, if not a little mischievous, Mailas favours thoughtful messages that harness integrity as well as ingenuity. After studying fashion merchandising and marketing, she went on to manage major multinational fashion brands, working in sales for a top Canadian clothing distributor. Her heart was always with the family business, though; as the third generation at Edgewood Florist, she worked with Provocateur during its rebranding. She also has experience in event planning and promotion, with independent electronic label Galactique Recordings, where she managed releases and soothed egos.
Co-founder and brand director
A natural-born maverick, Shapransky is a sharp-witted writing machine with a talent for expressing himself in 140 characters or less. An operations manager and social media strategist, Shapransky was appointed in 2013 as vice-president, communications for IceJerseys.com, the Internet’s largest hockey retailer. He started at the company in the shipping department while studying political science and journalism at Concordia University. He has also dabbled in sports journalism, design and comedy writing. Shapransky loves chocolate milk, despite being unable to tolerate lactose, and maintains that purchasing a game-used batting glove was a sound investment.
Community manager and consultant, public relations
With five years of media experience, Chacra has honed her skills as a writer, researcher, editor and yenta. Fresh out of high school, she dove into her professional life as a promotions assistant at Bell Media, managing promotional activities for some of Montreal’s most listened-to radio stations, including Virgin Radio 96. Soon after, she segued into the editorial division as a producer and entertainment commentator for news/talk station CJAD 800. While working on her bachelor’s degree in journalism, Chacra co-created an online grassroots lifestyle magazine, The Main, where she served as editor-in-chief. She is a fried chicken junkie and vehemently believes that calories aren’t real.
